Strange stories by H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) and some comments from a Fundamentalist Christian. Visitors are asked to remove their shoes when entering.
This blog hosts a collection of stories by American horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937). A lot of horror is not really worth reading. However, I think Lovecraft is worth a look. His stories present a worldview and a cosmology in which humanity is hopelessly at the mercy of uncaring deities from distant places in space or another dimension.
I would argue that there is a degree of common ground between the worldview of Lovecraft's fiction and the biblical cosmology. I believe the Bible presents a view of the world under the dominion of evil celestial beings- principlalities and powers, most notably Lucifer or Satan. The big difference is that the Chistian believes that this kingdom of darkness will be overthrown by the coming Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ and that the cosmos will be restored and renewed by the glory of God.

I look to the renewal of the cosmos through the reconciling work of Christ.
I believe the best way to keep homes clean is to remove shoes at the door. I expect visitors to my home to remove their shoes.
